Mike's coaching
experience has been primarily with chief executives and managing
directors. He has worked at board level with companies from
the financial services, retail, technology and consultancy sectors,
as well undertaking some work with leaders from the arts and
charity worlds.
Mike's first career was in the prison service, after which he
spent 14 years as Managing Director and then Chairman of an
optical retail chain. He also founded Social Information Systems,
a consultancy on the monitoring and evaluating of client delivery
services within public service agencies.
Mike sold his interest in both companies in the early 1990s
and joined GHN Executive Coaching - at the time the UK's leading
coaching company. At GHN, Mike became Director of Professional
Development, responsible for the professional development and
supervision of 10 full time coaches and for the recruitment
and training of new coaches. Whilst at GHN, Mike gained a British
Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy recognised diploma
in person-centred counselling from the Metanoia Institute.
Mike Milan co-founded The Coaching Partnership with Lucy West
in 2000. He has co-authored a book, entitled The Reflecting
Glass: Professional Coaching for Leadership Development with
Lucy West, published in 2001 by Palgrave (formerly Macmillan).
He supervises a number of executive coaches and is the external
adviser/trainer to the BBC's Coach Foundation Course.
